The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is a remarkable institution recognized as one of the top zoos in the nation. Situated at 6,800 feet above sea level, it is the highest zoo in America. Established in the 1920s, the zoo sprawls across 146 acres, 40 of which are developed as exhibits, and is home to over 900 animals representing 200 species.

Visitors to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo can marvel at a diverse collection of animals in exhibits such as Encounter Africa, showcasing African elephants and black rhinos; Rocky Mountain Wild, featuring animals native to the Colorado Rockies; and Australia Walkabout, with kangaroos and emus. The zoo's giraffe exhibit offers one of the country's most engaging giraffe feeding experiences. Guests can also enjoy the Mountaineer Sky Ride, an open-air chairlift that offers breathtaking views of the zoo and surrounding areas.

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is deeply committed to local and global conservation. It participates in numerous Species Survival Plans and has won awards for its conservation efforts. The zoo operates various conservation programs, including Quarters for Conservation, where 75 cents of every zoo admission goes directly to conservation projects worldwide.
