Overview

The Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center, located in Divide, Colorado, is a unique sanctuary dedicated to conserving wolves, foxes, and other wild canid species. Established in 2003, the center's primary mission is to improve the public's understanding of the role of these predators in our ecosystem and the challenges they face in the wild. The center is one of the few sanctuaries in the United States to be certified by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).

A Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center visit is educational and immersive. Visitors can enjoy guided tours led by knowledgeable staff, where they can encounter wolves, coyotes, and foxes in natural enclosures. The center offers various tours, including standard, interactive, and full moon tours, each providing a unique experience. The interactive tours give visitors the rare opportunity to enter the enclosure of the socialized wolves for a face-to-face encounter. The center also features beautiful mountainous landscapes and a variety of native plants, adding to the visitors' experience.

The Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center is vital in conserving wolves and other wild canid species. The center actively participates in the Mexican Wolf Species Survival Plan (SSP) with the AZA. This plan includes captive breeding and release programs to reintroduce these predators into their native habitats. The center also focuses on public education, offering programs to dispel myths about wolves and advocate for their protection.
