Cooper and Watson: Shedd Aquarium’s Rescued Sea Otter Pups

It’s been over three years since Shedd Aquarium welcomed two rescued sea otter pups, Cooper and Watson, into their family. The two were found stranded on the beaches of California in June 2018 and were taken to the aquarium for rehabilitation. Since then, they have grown up to become a beloved part of the Shedd family.

Cooper and Watson are now three years old and are thriving at the aquarium. They recently reached a new milestone this week – socialization. The two pups can now be seen playing with each other and interacting with the other sea otters at the aquarium.

The staff at Shedd Aquarium has also been celebrating Cooper and Watson’s birthdays every year since they arrived. This year was no exception as they celebrated their third birthday with special treats for them! They even asked their followers on Twitter to help them name the pups when they first arrived – Cooper (for Cupertino), Watson (for the town of Watsonville, near Monterey), Bennett (for Point Bennett on San Miguel Island).

The story of Cooper and Watson is an inspiring one that reminds us all that animals can get a second chance at life when given proper care and attention. If you’re ever in Chicago, make sure to visit Shedd Aquarium to meet these adorable sea otter pups!
