A Visit to the Perth Zoo Giraffes
If you ever find yourself in Perth, Australia, make sure to add a visit to the Perth Zoo to your list of things to do. Not only is it home to some amazing wildlife, but it also houses one of its most beloved residents – the giraffes.
These gentle giants have lived at the zoo since 1971, becoming an integral part of its history in over four decades! Walking around this zoo section is truly an experience; these beautiful creatures move gracefully and serenely through their habitat, always accompanied by their keepers, who take great care of them.
It’s a pleasure observing them – from standing on tiptoe while drinking water from their long tongues to leisurely eating leaves off trees. Seeing them up close will give you a new appreciation for these magnificent animals. It’s also remarkable how such large animals can be so graceful; watching them move around easily and elegantly is both mesmerizing and humbling.
What I found interesting about this region was how involved the zookeepers cared for each giraffe individually. They know their likes and dislikes, recognize their different temperaments and tailor their feeding, exercise, and enrichment activities accordingly. The keepers form strong bonds with each animal, making a more meaningful experience for visitors like myself!
Not only does visiting this area provide a great opportunity to learn more about these wonderful creatures, but it also allows us humans to benefit from spending time outdoors and engaging in wildlife-watching activities that are proven beneficial for our mental health.
