Zoos have a long and interesting history, with the first known zoo established in 2380 BCE. Private zoos began to rise in 30 BCE, and by 790 CE animal collectors were popular. In 1828, the London Zoo was established as the first zoo created for scientific purposes.
The Dublin Zoo opened in 1831, followed by the opening of Primate World in 1966 and Birds of Prey in 1976. In 2006, the Zoo de Vincennes renovation Beckmann-N’thepe + TN Plus opened in France. The Detroit Zoological Society opened its doors to the public on August 1st 1928, and today many zoos offer visitors a chance to learn more about their own history.
In recent years, animals have begun asserting themselves more within zoological parks – from escaping enclosures to engaging with visitors – making for an even more interesting experience!
