DUCKLING RESCUE  🐥

Imagine a peaceful day at our zoo, with families strolling around, observing the wonders of nature, and creating beautiful memories. Suddenly, chaos ensues when a guest reports the heart-wrenching sight of two tiny ducklings trapped in a storm drain. Instantly, our operations and veterinary teams are driven by their love for wildlife and a deep commitment to their well-being.

These little wood ducklings, barely able to fend for themselves, were in a difficult situation. Storm drains, with their dark and narrow confines, are no place for innocent creatures. It was clear that immediate action was required to ensure their safety and give them a chance at a happy and fulfilling life.

Our dedicated team wasted no time in scooping the ducklings out of the storm drain, but alas, their mother had anticipated the danger and swiftly led the rest of her brood to safety. Despite our best efforts, we could not reunite the separated ducklings with their loving parent. However, our resolve to provide them the care they desperately needed grew stronger.

Understanding the vulnerability of these young ones, our expert veterinary care team conducted a quick wellness check to ensure they were in good health. It is important to undergo such assessments, even for seemingly healthy animals, as they may harbor hidden health concerns or injuries.

After the wellness check, it was decided by our team, in consultation with the Wildlife Clinic of RI, that the wood ducklings would be sent to a private rehabber. This decision was made with the utmost thoughtfulness and consideration for the unique needs of these gentle creatures. Rehabbers possess the essential expertise to nurture young animals back to health and equip them with the skills necessary for their eventual return to the wild.

We owe tremendous gratitude to everyone involved in this remarkable rescue. From the guest who reported the incident to our operations and veterinary teams who sprang into action, every individual played a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of these ducklings. We are heartened by the collaborative effort and commitment displayed by our team and the broader community.

The joyous outcome of this rescue is a testament to the power of compassion, dedication, and expertise in the care of wildlife. It serves as a reminder that every living being deserves our love and protection, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant.

Nature’s wonders are boundless, and each creature plays an essential role in maintaining the delicate balance of ecosystems. Ducklings, with their adorable waddle and infectious quacks, are cute little beings and contribute significantly to the intricate web of life. By rescuing and rehabilitating these ducklings, we contribute to the thriving of these ecosystems, ensuring a healthy and vibrant natural world for future generations.

At our zoo, we believe in providing an enriching experience for our guests while also carrying out our duty to protect and preserve wildlife. This duckling rescue exemplifies our commitment to that mission and highlights the incredible work done by zoos and rehabbers alike.

We invite you to join us in celebrating these wood ducklings’ safe rescue and rehabilitation. Their journey is a testament to the resilience of nature and the boundless capacity for compassion within us all. By spreading awareness and nurturing a deep understanding of the animal kingdom, we pave the way for a harmonious existence where humans and wildlife coexist harmoniously.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to each individual who played a part in the duckling rescue. Together, let us continue championing the cause of wildlife conservation, leaving a lasting legacy for generations.

DUCKLING RESCUE (Swipe) 🐥 Our operations and veterinary teams sprang into action when a guest reported that two ducklings fell down a storm drain. Although our team quickly scoped the ducklings out, the mother duck had already taken her brood to safety, and the staff could no longer locate her.

As the ducklings were too young to be on their own, after a quick wellness check by our vet care team, the two wood ducklings were sent to a private rehabber under the thoughtful recommendation of the Wildlife Clinic of RI.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in helping with this rescue! A happy outcome for all.
