Andrea Taitt, ’27, from Jersey City, New Jersey, is our Zooie of the Week! Andrea attended Link Community Charter School in Newark before coming to Millbrook.
“I joined a program called Seeds and met someone who had gone to Millbrook. I remembered her when I was applying to schools. I looked at 10 different schools, but when I came for my tour, I fell in love with the Millbrook community and the campus and liked the zoo.
I just started working at the zoo this winter, and I’ve worked with the Red Pandas, cavies, hawks, wallabies, and ducks, but my favorite animal is the Emu. I liked cleaning their hay and felt like that was the hardest work I have done out of all the animals I cared for. And I felt that it was cool that I got the opportunity to do it.
Being away from home was hard at first; adjusting took a lot of time, but once I got used to Millbrook, I started liking it and being more outgoing. I feel like it’s not a regular boarding school. Yes, it’s diverse, and there are a lot of people. But if you are looking for a community you want to build on, you should come to Millbrook.”
