Baby Gorilla Stands for the First Time at Fort Worth Zoo
The Fort Worth Zoo is proud to announce that their baby gorilla, Kijito, has taken his first steps and stood up for the first time. The zoo staff have been monitoring Kijito closely since his birth in August of this year and are thrilled to share this milestone with the public.
Kijito’s Journey
Kijito was born to proud parents, Kamba and Kwame, both western lowland gorillas. He weighed a healthy 3.5 pounds at birth and has been growing steadily ever since. At four months old, Kijito is about 10 pounds and ready to take on the world.
Kijito’s First Steps
Kijito’s first steps were taken on October 24th, when he stood up on all fours and took a few wobbly steps around his enclosure. The zoo staff were ecstatic to witness this milestone and cheered him on as he took his first steps.
Kijito’s Future
Kijito is still very young and has much growing and learning to do before he’s ready to join the other gorillas in the main exhibit. For now, he’ll stay in his nursery with his mother and the other gorillas, where he will get plenty of love and attention from the zoo staff.
Kijito’s Impact on the Community
Kijito’s arrival at the Fort Worth Zoo has been a source of joy for the entire community. His birth has brought attention to the plight of endangered gorillas and the importance of conservation. The zoo staff is also excited to share Kijito’s journey with the public and looks forward to watching him grow and develop in the coming months.
Kijito’s first steps remind us of the incredible things that can happen when we work together to protect and conserve our planet’s wildlife. We wish Kijito the best of luck and can’t wait to see what he will accomplish.
