Full Description

Tropical climates typically have high temperatures year-round (usually above 18°C or 64°F) and significant rainfall. There are three main types of tropical climates: tropical rainforest (Af), tropical monsoon (Am), and tropical savannah (Aw). The tropical rainforest climate, or equatorial climate, has significant yearly rainfall. In contrast, the tropical monsoon has a short dry season, and the tropical savannah has a more pronounced dry season. These climates are typically found near the equator. Examples include the Amazon Basin in South America, the Congo Basin in Central Africa, and parts of Southeast Asia.
