Source Description
Back in March, we launched a Wildlife Emergency Fund to assist the zoos in Ukraine that Russia’s war has impacted. Thanks to the generosity of over 865 individual donations, we have raised and distributed $50,000 to three Ukrainian zoos; Kyiv Zoo, Cherkasy Zoo, and Odesa Zoo. These funds will help our colleagues care for their animals under extremely dangerous and difficult conditions.

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far and for the outpouring of support our community has shown for our friends in Ukraine. We also want to thank our partners at Ukrainians of Colorado, who helped build connections with zoo leaders in Ukraine and facilitated the direct transfer of funds to those organizations.

Watch Kyiv Zoo Director Kyrylo Trantin’s message to the Denver Zoo community below, and please consider donating to our Wildlife Emergency Fund. We continue to accept donations and plan to send more funds to those—and potentially other—zoos soon.
