The warm, tropical waters of the Gulf Stream carry planktonic life, including juvenile fish. Occasionally, these young fish ride the current to New England. While these juveniles can thrive here during the summer, they cannot survive during the winter. That’s where the Gulf Stream Orphan Project comes in!
The GSO Project is a local collecting effort used every fall to find these tropical fish in New England waters. Many of them are brought to the Aquarium to live in our exhibits, and you can visit them today!
