Fritz is a baby hippo born at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden on August 3, 2020. He has quickly become an internet sensation with his playful antics and adorable personality.
Fritz is now 400 pounds and full of energy! His care team selected his name because it means “peaceful ruler” in German, which is fitting for this gentle giant. He loves to play in the water and explore his habitat with his big sister Fiona and mom Bibi.
Fritz has been known to have “zoomies” during rainstorms, which is when he runs around like crazy! He also loves to eat lettuce and hay, as well as take naps in the sun.
The Cincinnati Zoo has been keeping fans updated on Fritz’s progress through their social media accounts. They recently posted a video of him playing in the rain that went viral with over 43 thousand likes!
