Good Morning! The Checkered Pheasant, Eulithidium affine, reaches about 9 mm (about 0.4 inches). Its small shell is smooth and thin but firm. The shell lacks any sculpture, and the color pattern usually consists of a combination of salmon-pink or pink-red, broad, zig-zag bands overlaid with several small red and white dots. The Checkered Pheasant and its close relatives live on sargassum, other types of seaweeds, and sometimes on seagrasses. The species is found in shallow water in the Gulf of Mexico, the East Coast of Florida and the Keys, Bahamas, the Caribbean, and south of Brazil.
