The Nature Center’s collaboration with Highland Brewing reflects a shared mission: to celebrate and conserve the natural beauty of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. This partnership has been instrumental in advancing the Nature Center’s goals, particularly in times of need, such as in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Highland Brewing’s support during these periods enabled the center to rapidly recover and continue its mission to educate the public about local flora and fauna. This alliance highlights the importance of community partnerships in promoting environmental sustainability.

Highland Brewing’s contribution under Oscar Wong’s leadership exemplifies how businesses can play a vital role in community-based conservation efforts. Their support is not limited to financial aid but extends to fostering a deeper connection between people and nature. Such initiatives align with Highland Brewing’s values, promoting both community enrichment and environmental awareness.

In a touching tribute to Oscar Wong’s influence, the Nature Center named its three newest goat kids Porter, Pilsner, and Stout. These names are not merely playful nods to Highland’s renowned beers but symbols of community spirit and the shared traditions between the brewery and the center. Goats, notably adaptable and resilient animals, mirror Oscar Wong’s enduring impact. They serve as living embodiments of the spirit of innovation and dedication he championed.

Oscar’s commitment to Asheville extended beyond his professional endeavors. This act of volunteerism typifies how he continually sought to give back to the community that embraced him. Such involvement underscores the powerful impact one individual can have on local development and community welfare.
