Adventure Aquarium in Camden, New Jersey is the largest aquarium on the East Coast of the United States. It is home to over 8,000 animals and more than 250 species. Here are some interesting facts about this popular destination:

• Adventure Aquarium has two tanks that hold a combined 800,000 gallons of saltwater! The largest tank is an Ocean Realm exhibit that holds 600,000 gallons of water and houses sand tiger sharks and other marine life.

• The aquarium boasts a unique African Penguin Exhibit that includes a pool for visitors to get up close and personal with these adorable birds. It also has a huge 5-foot underwater viewing window where visitors can observe the penguins from below the surface.

• The Shark Realm exhibit is home to over 30 different kinds of sharks including nurse sharks, sand tigers, zebra sharks, and more! Visitors can watch them swim above them in their 2-million gallon tank tunnel. An amazing interactive touch pool allows guests to safely interact with some of these incredible creatures.

• The aquarium’s Hippo Haven exhibit is home to three Nile hippos—Genny, Buttonwood, and Spanky—who can be seen lounging in their 330,000-gallon pool while showing off their acrobatic skills!
