Introducing Bahati and Kijani: Growing Fast with the Dallas Zoo

The Dallas Zoo is proud to introduce two new members of the family: Bahati and Kijani, two lion cubs born to parents Izwi, Ilola, and Tadala. As part of The Association of Zoos and Aquariums’s Species Survival Plan, the Dallas Zoo has been working hard to ensure the safety and growth of these two precious cubs.

Training Bahati for Ultrasounds

The Dallas Zoo has been training Bahati for ultrasounds since he was born. This has been a crucial step in monitoring the health and development of the cubs. Ultrasounds are a non-invasive way to collect vital information about the cubs’ health, including their heart rate, breathing rate, and internal organs.

C-Section Birth

After months of preparation, Bahati and Kijani were born via C-section. The C-section was a necessary step to ensure the safety of the cubs and their mother, Izwi. The cubs have since been thriving under the care of the Dallas Zoo’s expert team.

The Future of Bahati and Kijani

The Dallas Zoo is dedicated to providing the best care for Bahati and Kijani. With the help of The Association of Zoos and Aquariums’s Species Survival Plan, the cubs are growing fast and healthy. Be sure to check out Part 2 of this series next week to learn more about these two adorable cubs!
