What’s been happening at the Zoo’s Rookery? What’s all that construction? We’ve been working to expand the Rookery for the numerous wild birds that utilize our Zoo and native rookery habitat for roosting and raising their young.
Much maintenance goes into our native bird rookery, like maintaining good water quality, removing invasive plants, replacing the banks, and helping the trees within the birds and their waste production.
By creating more space on the north end of our Zoo, we’re hoping the birds decide to nest in that new area instead of the areas our guests occupy.
