Membership Specialist Position Summary
The Seneca Park Zoo Society is looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals with a passion for enhancing guest experiences and providing exceptional member services. This position is an integral part of a team responsible for raising significant funds to support operations and programs while creating a welcoming experience for our members. Membership Specialists are typically required to work Sunday through Saturday, to cover booth shifts between 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., and occasional evenings as required. This position reports to the Membership Manager.
Duties
- Provide exceptional customer service for members at the Zoo’s Front Gate and various locations throughout the Zoo while responding to member issues or concerns.
- Encourage membership purchases, upgrades or adding a la carte items. Accept and process membership fees, donations, and respond to inquiries or feedback. Provide opportunities for member spending and giving.
- Conserve resources (such as printed materials) and inspire members to support conversation efforts (such as through donations added to membership dues.)
- Assist with orderly guest entry to the Zoo.
- Assist with member events and other Zoo events as assigned.
- This position requires standing, sitting, walking, speaking, hearing, interacting with general public, guests, and staff. Will stand for extended periods of time. Some lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds.
- Work is performed in enclosed areas and outdoor locations throughout the Zoo. Will work outdoors in varied weather conditions. Due to Zoo’s hours of operation, some night availability for special events may be required.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must demonstrate strong customer service, organization, interpersonal and communication skills. Computer and Windows Office experience is required.
- Experience handling money is required.
- Experience performing tasks quickly and accurately. Must have flexible schedule and ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a calm and positive demeanor.
- Sales experience preferred.
- Ability to maintain a positive and upbeat working environment for guests and co-workers, work independently or with team members and switch tasks as needed.
