Additionally, specially designed furniture for climbing will be installed, guaranteeing the sloth a comfortable and engaging environment. While a small portion of the South America loop remains temporarily closed for final touches, all other animals can still be observed during your visit.
2. Angel Charity for Children World of Play – A Journey into Imagination
Dive into the fantastical World of Play, a project made possible by generous funding from Angel Charity for Children. The interior of the ice cave is taking shape, with talented sculptors recreating the enchanting atmosphere of a natural cave. Meanwhile, the roofing for the parent pavilion is being laid, providing a shaded and relaxing area for families to enjoy. The giant sequoia tree in the heart of the play area already boasts branches, adding to the immersive experience. We understand that changes in parking may cause some inconvenience, but this temporary disruption is necessary to improve accessibility for all. We assure you that representatives from Parks and Recreation, Reid Park Zoo, U of A Baseball, and the Adaptive Recreation Center meet weekly to address any issues that may arise and ensure uninterrupted access to all facilities. The new parking lot is expected to be completed n November, greatly enhancing your experience at the Zoo and the surrounding area.
4. Pathway to Asia – Connecting Cultures and Green Spaces
Once the new parking lot construction is finished, the next development phase will commence with the Pathway to Asia project. This innovative plan will repurpose the current lots at the Edith Ball Adaptive Recreation Center and the Zoo, transforming them into a scenic pathway that celebrates Asia’s rich biodiversity and cultural heritage. This project will utilize existing asphalt rather than encroaching upon green spaces, highlighting our commitment to environmental conservation.
