Betsy and Zhu’s Baby Red Panda Cub Goes On An Adventure Outside
On October 20, 2022, Betsy and Zhu’s baby red panda cub went on an adventure outside in the Red Panda exhibit for the first time. This cub was the third successful red panda cub born at the Trevor Zoo and was born on the morning of July 7 to Betsy (female) and Zhu (male). The Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Species Survival Plan (SSP) Program recommended the pair for breeding.
The red panda cub was welcomed with a huge amount of excitement by the Trevor Zoo staff and visitors. Everyone was eager to see the cub explore its new home and learn about its surroundings. The cub was curious and seemed to take in every exhibit detail. It was a beautiful sight to behold, and it was clear that the cub was already comfortable in its new home.
The Trevor Zoo staff and visitors were very pleased with the success of the red panda cub’s journey outside. They were also very grateful for the support of the AZA Species Survival Plan Program, which helps ensure the survival of endangered species like the red panda.
