Rhinos Taj and Glenn get fancy in the flooring department!

Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle has unveiled a new “substrate” for its two greater one-horned rhinos, Taj and Glenn, that mimics the soft ground of their natural habitat in Northern India, Bhutan and Nepal. The new “flooring” consists of two feet of wood chips made of maple and alder, that allows the rhinos’ weight to be distributed onto their toes, rather than their hoof pads, which helps to improve their foot health. The wood chips are also easy to source and safe for the rhinos to ingest. The construction project to install the wood chips took almost a year and was completed in May 2022.

Rhino and Taj are two best friends who love to experiment and try new things. They were recently excited to revamp their home and decided to focus their attention on their flooring. They wanted something luxurious, fancy, and unique. Little did they know, their flooring journey would take them on a wild adventure!

The search for the perfect flooring was not easy. Rhino and Taj would go to different home decor stores to find inspiration, but nothing felt right. One day, while they were passing by a vintage store, they noticed a beautiful Persian rug hanging on the wall. The intricate design immediately caught their attention. The rug was ornate, and the colors were rich and vibrant. They both looked at each other and knew they had just found the solution to their flooring problem.

Rhino and Taj quickly went inside the store to speak to the owner, Glenn. Glenn was hesitant at first, but when Rhino and Taj showed him pictures of their living room, he saw the potential. They decided to purchase the Persian rug and use it as their inspiration for the rest of their flooring. Glenn, an expert in interior design, suggested using a custom epoxy flooring to seal and protect the rug.

A few weeks later, Glenn and his team arrived at Rhino and Taj’s home to begin the installation process. They carefully measured and cut the rug to fit the space and then proceeded to apply the epoxy flooring. As they worked, Rhino and Taj were amazed at how the flooring enhanced the design of the rug. It looked as if the rug was embedded into the floor.

Once the installation was complete, Rhino and Taj couldn’t believe how stunning their living room looked. The flooring brought the room together and created an ambiance of elegance and luxury. Every time they walked into the room, they felt a sense of pride and satisfaction.

The experience with Glenn and his team was not only fun, but it was also educational. They learned that flooring can be a critical aspect of interior design. Not only does it add to the decor of a room, but it also has practical benefits such as durability, maintenance, and longevity.

Rhino and Taj highly recommend using custom epoxy flooring for those looking for something unique, luxurious, and easy to maintain. They also suggest looking beyond typical flooring options and considering alternative materials such as rugs, tiles, and even recycled materials.

In conclusion, Rhino and Taj’s flooring journey was not only successful, but it also opened their eyes to possibilities they never considered. Glenn’s expertise and guidance helped them achieve the flooring of their dreams. They hope their story will inspire others to get creative and take risks in the world of interior design.
