Today’s our last 3:30 pm public program on sharks. We will also have our “Big Feed” (100 lbs of seafood) in the Sharks of Alcatraz Tunnel at 2:30 pm on Sunday. Visitors can observe from the tunnels.

Within the 350,000-gallon Sharks of Alcatraz exhibit, guests can walk right next to 3 different species of sharks that can be found right outside our doorstep in San Francisco Bay: the Broadnose Sevengill shark (the largest species of shark to call the San Francisco Bay home), the Leopard Shark (one of the most beautiful shark species) and the Tope Shark (their numbers have been decreasing in recent years and were assessed by the IUCN as critically endangered in 2020).
In the Nearshore Tunnel, guests can find the cryptic Swell Shark (look deep into the crevices of the rocks to find them) and the Horn Sharks (harmless unless harassed). Occasionally guests will have the opportunity to touch a shark in our Richardson’s Bay Touch pool exhibit, where they are rotated occasionally.
