Known for their hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters, these biomes house a mix of evergreen trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants. Areas such as the Mediterranean Basin, California chaparral, and parts of Australia are teeming with unique biodiversity and high endemism. This biome, however, is under significant threat from human activities, including urban development, agriculture, and climate change.
