Reid Park Zoo Update: Big, Big Bugs Exhibit Continues Through April 30
Extended Spring Break Hours
The Reid Park Zoo will have extended hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during spring break from March 17 – 23. Guests can enjoy the milder temperatures and the blooming plants.
New Sloth Habitat
A section of the South America loop is currently closed as the Reid Park Zoo prepares a home for a Linne’s two-toed sloth. The new habitat will be completed by the end of the summer.
Angel Charity for Children World of Play
Construction of the Angel Charity for Children World of Play continues, with rebar being set for the tabular ice. The presentation circle is closed during construction as it is transformed into a Nature Play area.
New Parking Lot
The new parking lot for the Reid Park Zoo, Edith Ball Adaptive Recreation Center (ARC), and Reid Park, will begin construction in early March. This parking lot will increase parking availability with approximately 100 trees being planted as a part of the project. There will be changes to the parking for Adaptive Recreation Center and along Lakeshore Lane during construction.
Pathway to Asia
The construction of Pathway to Asia will take place in the current ARC and Zoo lots after the new parking lot is completed. The project is expected to take approximately 24 months to finish. Construction drawings will be complete by March 30.
