Virginia Zoo

The Virginia Zoological Park, commonly known as the Virginia Zoo, is in Norfolk, Virginia. It covers 53 acres and features a wide array of animals worldwide. Established in 1900, the zoo started with a small collection of animals and has since grown to house over 500 animals representing over 100 different species. Its mission is to increase understanding of the world's flora and fauna and to add to the growing body of knowledge about them.

The Virginia Zoo allows visitors to explore various habitats, from the African Savannah to the Asian gardens, and observe the animals that call them home. The zoo's interactive exhibits provide fun and educational experiences for visitors of all ages. There is plenty to see and do with train rides, beautifully landscaped gardens, and various animals, including tigers, elephants, and a range of birds and reptiles. Educational programs, special events, and animal encounters add to visitors' experience.

The Virginia Zoo is committed to animal conservation and participates in several Species Survival Plans. These plans help manage the breeding of specific endangered species to maintain a healthy and genetically diverse population.
