Overview

Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, located in New Orleans, Louisiana, is a leading family-oriented attraction in the United States. Since its opening in 1990, it has dedicated itself to educating visitors about the underwater world. Home to more than 10,000 animals representing 530 species, the Aquarium offers an immersive journey through various aquatic environments, including the Caribbean Reef, the Amazon Rainforest, and the Gulf of Mexico.

Visitors to the Aquarium have many interactive experiences, including touching stingrays, feeding parakeets, and encountering remarkable marine creatures. Daily animal presentations and feedings and an IMAX theater featuring nature documentaries enhance the experience.

As a part of the Audubon Nature Institute, the Aquarium of the Americas is deeply committed to conservation and education. Its conservation programs include the preservation of the Gulf of Mexico's marine life and habitats, rescuing and rehabilitating sea turtles and marine mammals, and the Alliance for Sustainable Wildlife, a breeding program for endangered species.
