Overview

CuriOdyssey, located in Coyote Point Recreation Area in San Mateo, California, is an innovative science playground and zoo designed to provide immersive experiences for children. Founded in 1954, CuriOdyssey allows children to engage with and understand the principles of science and the wonders of the natural world through hands-on exhibits, native wildlife exhibits, and science and art programs.

A visit to CuriOdyssey provides children with an opportunity to see up-close native California animals and to experiment with real scientific phenomena through engaging and interactive exhibits. The zoo houses more than 100 live animals, with injuries or circumstances preventing their release into the wild. Exhibits include interactive science exhibits, live animal encounters, and educational programs. The surrounding Coyote Point Park offers beautiful walking trails, picnic spots, and a beach for a break from indoor activities.

CuriOdyssey is committed to wildlife conservation and environmental education. The animals at the zoo, mostly rescued and non-releasable, serve as ambassadors for their species, helping to educate visitors about the need to protect and conserve wildlife and their habitats. CuriOdyssey's educational programs and camps are designed to inspire a love for the natural world and an understanding of the need for its protection.
