Overview

Located in Greensboro, North Carolina, the Greensboro Science Center (GSC) is a unique combination of aquarium, zoo, and museum, providing a multi-faceted educational and recreational destination. Established in 1957, the GSC spans 27 acres and promotes science learning through interactive exhibits and hands-on experiences. The GSC hosts a diverse range of animals and aquatic species and exhibits highlighting physics, paleontology, and environmental science.

The Greensboro Science Center offers a range of immersive exhibits and experiences. The zoo section includes tigers, meerkats, and a red panda exhibit, while the aquarium showcases a variety of aquatic life, from penguins to sharks. The GSC also houses a state-of-the-art OmniSphere Theater, where visitors can enjoy immersive experiences such as digital movies, laser shows, and skywatching sessions. Additionally, the center offers hands-on science exploration in its Kids' Alley interactive area and hosts special educational events throughout the year.

As an accredited Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) member, the Greensboro Science Center participates in multiple Species Survival Plans (SSPs), working to conserve and breed endangered species. They also work to support global conservation initiatives and field research. The GSC is committed to educating the public about the importance of biodiversity and environmental conservation, offering numerous programs and events designed to engage and educate visitors of all ages.
