Overview
The Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center is a not-for-profit wildlife park and educational facility in West Yellowstone, Montana. Opened in 1993, the center offers visitors the opportunity to observe and learn about grizzly bears and gray wolves, two iconic species of the Yellowstone area, in a safe and secure environment. All animals at the center cannot survive in the wild for various reasons, such as injury or habituation to humans, providing them with a comfortable sanctuary.
Visitors to the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center can enjoy watching the resident grizzly bears and wolves in their spacious, naturalistic outdoor habitats. The center offers numerous educational programs throughout the day, including Keeper Kids, where children can learn about bear food, hiding practices, and interpretive talks from on-site naturalists. Additionally, visitors can explore exhibits in the museum that provide information about the wildlife, geology, and cultural history of the Yellowstone area.
The Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center provides public education about grizzly bears and gray wolves and their roles in the ecosystem. The center also contributes to conservation efforts by participating in various research projects, providing data on bear behavior and testing bear-resistant containers to help reduce human-bear conflicts. The facility also serves as a rescue center for bears and wolves that cannot survive in the wild.
