Overview

Located in Newport, Kentucky, Newport Aquarium offers visitors a diverse journey through specially designed underwater tunnels. Since its opening in 1999, it has showcased thousands of animals worldwide in a million gallons of water. The aquarium features both freshwater and saltwater environments, including exhibits dedicated to the Amazon rainforest, coral reefs, and the Arctic, among others.

Newport Aquarium provides an immersive and interactive journey where visitors can explore the world beneath the ocean's surface. Notable exhibits include "Surrounded by Sharks," where guests walk through an underwater tunnel for a 360-degree view of shark species and other marine life, and "Penguin Palooza," one of the most diverse collections of cold-weather penguins in the country. The aquarium offers unique experiences like touching a shark at Shark Central and crossing the Shark Bridge. This rope bridge spans over the open water of the Surrounded by Sharks exhibit.

Newport Aquarium is actively involved in conservation efforts, both locally and globally. It participates in breeding programs for endangered animals and collaborates with the Wild Animal Conservation & Education Fund to support wildlife conservation efforts. The aquarium also encourages conservation through education and by providing its visitors with information on how to protect ocean life.
