Maggie Rusconi ’26, from New York City, is our Zooie of The Week at Millbrook! Let’s take a moment to get to know her and the unique aspects of her life at our school.

In the bustling city of New York, life has been altered by the Covid-19 pandemic. For many, this change has prompted a desire to seek alternative environments. This is exactly what motivated Maggie to significantly shift education. Growing tired of the city life, she yearned for something different and discovered her love for Millbrook during a tour.

One of the aspects that truly captivated Maggie was the presence of a zoo on campus. The opportunity to work with animals enticed her, and she became excited about the prospect of feeding and caring for them. She recognized the importance of learning about different species, their behaviors and the significance of responsibility and community service.

Maggie has worked with various animals at the zoo, including alpacas, rheas, arctic and red foxes, and goats. Each interaction has been unique and exciting, as she has come to realize the vast diversity of animal life. Through these experiences, she has discovered new species that she never even knew existed.

Beyond her involvement with the zoo, Maggie has shown great enthusiasm for sports at Millbrook. This year, she stepped out of her comfort zone and tried field hockey and squash for the first time. These experiences allowed her to grow both physically and mentally, as she learned new skills and developed a sense of teamwork. Additionally, Maggie has taken up tennis this spring and has found great joy in this sport as well.

In the classroom, Maggie has discovered a passion for the Spanish language. Her favorite teacher, Dr. D, has ignited her interest in the subject and made learning Spanish an enjoyable experience. Dr. D’s teaching style brings the language to life and offers a unique perspective on different cultures. Maggie appreciates the fun and interesting approach to learning that Dr. D brings to the classroom.

In conclusion, Maggie Rusconi is a remarkable individual who has found her place at Millbrook. Her love for animals, dedication to community service, and willingness to try new experiences make her a valuable member of our Trevor Zoo and the Millbrook community as a whole. We congratulate Maggie on her accomplishments and encourage her to continue pursuing her passions.

Congratulations once again, Maggie! Your contributions to Trevor Zoo and Millbrook are greatly appreciated, and we are delighted to have you as our Zooie of The Week. Keep up the excellent work!

Maggie Rusconi ’26, from New York City, is our Zooie of The Week! Before coming to Millbrook, Maggie attended The Cathedral School in Manhattan.

“Since Covid, NYC has hanged, and I no longer want to go to school in the city. So I wanted to go away to boarding school, and when I toured Millbrook, I just really fell in love with the place. I thought it was cool that we had a zoo, and I thought it’d be cool to work with the animals. Living away from home has been an adjustment, but now it’s really fun, especially on the weekends because of all the activities. The people here are kind and friendly. On my first day here, I met a lot of kids and made many friends.

Working at the zoo, I think feeding the animals is probably the best part. I’ve worked with the alpacas, rheas, the arctic and red doxes, and the goats. I think it’s important to learn about the animals, what they do, what they eat. Also,  learning responsibility is a good thing and the value of doing community service. You’ll have a lot of fun meeting the animals, interacting with them, and seeing different animals you might not have even known existed.

This year, I played field hockey, squash, new to me, and tennis this spring. My favorite class is Spanish, and my favorite teacher here is Dr. D. She makes Spanish fun and interesting to learn, and she’s just a great teacher.”

Congratulations Maggie! Keep up the good work. We love having you be a part of the Trevor Zoo.
