Zebras at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium
The Omaha Zoo is home to some of the most amazing animals in the world, including zebras. The Suzanne and Walter Scott African Grasslands spans 28 acres and is the largest project undertaken in the Zoo’s history. It has transformed the eastern part of the zoo into an African savanna, complete with elephants, impalas, and of course, zebras!
Zebras are quite the pranksters! They have a natural, built-in insect repellent that allows them to “shoo” flies and other biting insects away. Visitors to the zoo can get up close and personal with these majestic creatures as they roam around their habitat. You can even take a picture with one of these beautiful animals!
The zoo currently only has two zebras; however, they are of a non-endangered species that is recommended to be replaced. This means that visitors will still be able to see these incredible animals for years to come.
The Omaha Zoo also features microhabitats along its Conservation Promenade where guests can observe butterflies and moths such as blue morpho, zebra longwing, and painted ladies.
